PlateUp – Dietitian by Natasha Oberholzer

Living with diabetes is hard. It's 24/7. 365.

Practical education to help you navigate food, glucose, and insulin every day.

Why PlateUp?
Natasha Oberholzer, registered dietitian and diabetes educator in Cape Town, specialising in type 1, type 2, gestational and insulin-managed diabetes.

Practical support for real life

Diabetes doesn't happen in perfect conditions.

Life gets busy. Stress affects glucose. Exercise changes things. Some meals make sense on paper but still cause unexpected spikes. Sometimes the exact same routine gives a completely different result.

PlateUp helps you understand what's happening so you know what to do next. Through practical education and personalised support, you'll build confidence in the everyday decisions around food, carbohydrates, insulin, and glucose management.

The goal is not perfect eating.

The goal is to help you feel:

  • less overwhelmed
  • more confident
  • more in control
  • less reliant on rigid food rules or meal plans

Who's this for?

PlateUp is for people navigating the everyday decisions that come with diabetes, particularly when insulin, carbohydrate counting, and glucose management are part of daily life.

  • People with type 1 diabetes
  • People with type 2 diabetes
  • People with gestational diabetes
  • Parents and caregivers of children with diabetes

Meet Natasha

I've lived with Type 1 diabetes for the past 19 years. My experience and understanding shape how I support people every day.

I'm a registered dietitian with 7 years of outpatient experience.

I completed a Master's degree in Therapeutic Nutrition at Stellenbosch University, with research focused on how people living with diabetes prefer to learn about nutrition, and what helps them apply that knowledge in everyday life.

I'm also a diabetes educator for MiniMed, helping people use technology to manage diabetes with greater confidence.

My lived experience, clinical practice, and research shape the entire approach at PlateUp:

  • Practical over perfect
  • Realistic over restrictive
  • Understanding over rigid rules

Sessions are designed to help you build practical skills you can actually use in everyday life.

Whether you're navigating restaurants, grocery stores, exercise, work, family meals, or unpredictable glucose patterns, my goal is to help you make confident decisions that fit your own life.
